This animated anthology series tells original stories set in the worlds of iconic video games. Video games have made the jump to the big screen in a big way, and we’re celebrating the genre with a closer look at more than 50 video game adaptations into movies and shows. Clive Standen will reprise his voice role as Demetrius Titus, the main character in the video game Space Marine 2. The episode takes place after the events of the game. Referenced on the Film Junk Podcast: Episode 973: Hand Luggage (2024). Expanding the video game medium with content created by talented fans with unlimited budgets seems wonderful, doesn’t it? Well, ladies and gentlemen, it is! The first 8 episodes were great, each one embodying the universe they chose for it. I’ve seen critics say they didn’t take any risks with the show. Did you see the Pac-Man episode? Because I did, and it seems to me like they took a hell of a risk there. The show is stunning, every graphic style seems well chosen and mastered (as we would expect from the team at Love Death and Robot), it bodes well for the future, let’s hope it allows video game media to expand even further. It’s full of Easter eggs without the show annoying me and steering me in the direction of every detail screaming at me HAVE YOU PLAYED THE GAME??? And in the world we live in, that’s already incredible.This is the first time that people who really love the game have taken the risk of expanding the media and delighting us, the fans.But the beauty of it is that even people who have never played the games can like, understand and feel empathy for the characters, and that seems to me to be a great challenge that they have overcome. The series has its drawbacks of course, some episodes weren’t as great as the others (I’m looking at you, new world). Yes, some episodes were short, yes, some jokes were a bit off, I never said it was perfect, just that it was fantastic. One Hundred Years of Solitude is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month. Check out our December calendar for more!
